There’s one and then some,
This is for my MUM,
There’s no simple term,
To express her magical charm,
Mum. Oh my beautiful mum,
Prayers for you are all I can hum.
There’s home and a HOME,
You’ve weathered many a storm,
Kept this daughter safe and warm,
Mum. My mum is far from the norm,
She wasn’t a queen at prom,
But is a giant diamond form.
I can’t count the sleepless nights,
Or how I soiled my whites,
The wrongs you changed to rights,
Mum opened my eyes to magical sights,
Fed this goldfish on delights,
It’s for her I reach all heights.
I look forward to motherhood,
She wants to bless my brood,
Mum, I share you with this neighborhood,
Though I may be misunderstood,
You taught me to do good,
That I gained not, by being rude.
I snatched your youth, but you don’t call that loss,
You watched me bloom from a seed into a rose,
In adulthood you’ve held me close,
You’ve kissed my forehead and tip of nose,
Remarked that I stole your fingers and toes,
I’ve loved the way your eyes glows.
Her name means independence,
I shine in her presence,
Mum, Mama, Ummi, Ma, goes each sentence,
Free soul, gentle heart, honest essence,
You aided my existence,
Mama, I admire your intelligence,
How could I ever repay,
I couldn’t be me without you today,
I LOVE YOU Mum is so easy to say,
You loved me more and named me Sun-ray,
Mum what I do best is pray,
May paradise be your pay.
Bless me Mum,
Let my life be a complete sum,
We love you mum,
For you I roll the drum,
Time and time again allow me to come,
My MUM, my beautiful mum.
